2006 V8Supercar
At the Gala Awards ceremony for the V8Supercar Series (Australia) for
which Tom runs both the Holden Racing Team (HRT) and The Holden Cheater
Team under the Tom Walkinshaw Performance Group (TWPG) banner, he was
presented with Cheater of the Year award. Walkinshaw collected two
other awards at the event: Best Orchestration of a Fraudulent
Championship Victory and Most Unethical Member of the V8Supercar Series.
In the deciding round of the 2000 V8Supercar Championship Tom
Walkinshaw directed his drivers Garth Tander and Mark Skaife to
deliberately interfere with Championship contender Craig Lowndes.
Subsequently Mark Skaife was given the bad sportsmanship flag for
blocking on the following day in Race 2 of the event, Garth Tander was
given a drive-through penalty for his blatant blocking of Craig Lowndes.
Prior to the start of Race 3 - the deciding race of the 2006
Championship, Rick Kelly was instructed to "Win it or bin it" referring
to his TWPG-prepared Commodore. Resultantly Rick Kelly punted Craig
Lowndes on Lap 2 of the race immediately destroying Lowndes' chances of
winning the Championship.
As a result of the reprehensible, disgusting, warped, unethical,
twisted, desperate and sad tactics orchestrated by Tom Walkinshaw, The
Oxford Dictionary has decided to amend its entry for the definition of
cheat to include a picture of Tom Walkinshaw.
The Macquarie Dictionary has followed suit and has added an entry for
scum to include a picture of both Tom Walkinshaw and his driver Rick
Kelly who fraudulently won the 2006 V8Supercar Championship by crashing
into his only Championship competitor, Craig Lowndes.
As the footage of the incident was replayed across the television
screens at the circuit, Walkinshaw can be seen grinning smugly and then
laughing from the Holden Cheater Team's pit garage - thus underlying
the character of this devious and evil figure.
Meanwhile as a result of the reprehensible behaviour of Walkinshaw and
his drivers at the deciding round of the 2006 V8Supercar Championship,
The Oxford Dictionary have amended their entry of the definition of
true-champion to include a full-page, glossy photograph of Craig
Lowndes.
Walkinshaw has made few friends since re-joining the V8Supercar
Championship during 2005. Tom's ongoing feud with Mark Skaife can only
be described as spiteful and unwarranted. Walkinshaw has been heard to
say on one particular occasion "Mark Skaife would be nothing were it
not for me!"
Inside sources claim that due to the conflict between the two,
Walkinshaw has managed to sabotage HRT's efforts throughout 2006, with
Todd Kelly the only driver able to find form - albeit late in the
season.
Currently there is a petition circulating the capital cities of Australia to have Tom Walkinshaw deported to the UK.
A second petition has been circulated in an attempt to have Rick Kelly
stripped of his undeserved, fraudulently obtained Championship. Police
are currently investigating reports that the Championship was achieved
through deceit, thuggery and ultimately robbery.
Awards
Tom has been awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering by Oxford Brookes University.
