Words and Music: Graeme Connors
I have this watch that runs backwards, so I never know the right time,
All my friends offer to fix it for me, I tell them it suits me just fine,
'Cause it reminds me that time, is a state of mind,
A restriction we put on our lives, and if my broken-down watch can tell me all that,
It's a blessing in disguise.
I have this knee that gets painful, when I spend too long on my feet,
My doctor he says we should operate, I tell him to just let it be,
'Cause it reminds me my bones, have a mind of their own,
I ought to slow down and get wise, and if my old aching knee can do that for me,
It's a blessing in disguise.
All I have learnt I have learnt without trying, I just rely on my ears and my eyes,
All of my life's been a valuable lesson, taking me by surprise.
I have this world that keeps turning, day's always changing to night,
Just as I'm leaving the seventeenth hole, I smile and say "Hey, it's alright",
'Cause it reminds me that life, doesn't come around twice,
If I don't feed the fire it dies, and if the world in it's turn helps me keep burning,
It's a blessing in disguise, and if that crazy old moon keeps me humming a tune,
It's a blessing in disguise.
